Review: Against the Wind (Raines of Wind Canyon #1) by Kat Martin

They were known as the “no-account Raines boys” but they’ve grown into successful, honorable men and everything they have, they’ve fought for tooth and nail. Now each of the three brothers has one last obstacle to overcome to claim what’s eluding them: love.Secrets don’t stay buried long in cattle country. Sarah Allen, the beautiful girl who humiliated Jackson Raines in high school, is back in town. Not so long ago, she couldn’t wait to leave Wind Canyon, Wyoming, in her dust. But, recently widowed, she has nowhere else to go and finds herself on Jackson’s ranch. And despite everything, Jackson’s finding himself reluctant to get rid of her.

Sarah brings her own kind of trouble, and he can’t resist trouble. Enemies of her dead husband show up making threats, thinking she has something they’re owed. They’re not taking no for an answer, but what they will take is the one thing she has left–her daughter. Jackson’s the only one who might be able to save little Holly and bring her home.

Maybe it’s because I’m partial to cowboy’s, big trucks and working men. I just loved Jackson Raine. He’s the kinda man that every woman dreams about. Here is a story with real depth to it, with real problems that some can relate to. I enjoyed this story so much, the writing, description of Wyoming and the characters. Kat Martin has perfected her writing style, and sometimes its easy to forget that writing talent like this is rare. When you can fall into a book and world that the author created, now that’s talent. I have to say, that even though this is not an erotic book, I would be more than happy to help Jackson Raine or any of his brothers off with their boots, cause this was smokin’ my kindle. I blush to say that I liked it πŸ™‚ They felt real, they talked like normal people and had reactions that were what you would expect. So what you have here is real people, smokin’ hot cowboy and love story that is sweet and yet full of human problems that they have to work out together. Not to mention a good mystery, creepy guy’s that must of course be beat down by Jackson and our poor heroine who has to work out some inner issues of her own. Wonderful book, I can’t wait to read about the other Raine brothers.

Flow of book – 5
Believable romance – 5
Overall Plot – 5
